Rest peacefully dear Paul. Thank you for your loving friendship to our parents, Colin and Janet, over so many years. With love, Caroline, James and families xx

Caroline and James

When he was 21, he chose me to be a bridesmaid at his first wedding to Penelope. Unfortunately, the marriage didn't last, but they remained friends the whole of his life. He was so proud to become a father to Jennifer (Jeni). I was honoured to be her Godmother. She was the flower bearer at his second wedding to Marylin while I drove them. Sadly, his second child Anthony died a sudden cot death at the age of just six weeks. With Marian he had Charlotte and later they married. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without our two families meeting up on Boxing Day, which continued after his move to Norfolk. After his diagnosis of leukaemia, thanks to Queens Hospital Romford. We had another 10 years of Paul. He bore all his illnesses with stoicism: asked how he was, his answer was invariable, 'I'm fine,' not matter how ill he looked. We would chat about politics, history and books we'd read. While we have memories of Paul: he is not dead, just in the next room

It was a pleasure knowing you Paul. I enjoyed our conversations about the Tonka. I'm sorry I never found the time to get over the last few years. R.I.P my friend. Condolences to Paul's wife and family and friends.

At a traumatic time in our lives, Thornalley were a shining light of professionalism, kindness and understanding. It was the greatest comfort to feel confidence in their handling of the funeral. They excelled themselves in every stage of the process and we could not recommend Thornalley highly enough. Thank you for looking after our loved one with grace and understanding.
